Use diplomacy, military strength, and covert tactics to gain influence
Rise through the ranks of a clan to eventually become the leader

GameGrin "When I first got called up for Sengoku, I honestly had no idea what I was in for, the only thing I did know, was that it was from Paradox, and after my last Paradox title King Arthur, I had a feeling I was in for some more hardcore strategy, and I definitely wasn’t wrong in my assumption!" EmptyLifeBar "Grand Strategy has always been a genre that is pretty niche. With long manuals to read, historical information that requires context, and decisive planning being the key features required for a player maximize his efficiency in game, let’s just say most modern gamers usually steer clear of the genre." NoobFeed Paradox Interactive's latest brainchild offers a sufficient amount of new and reworked ideas to be considered more than just a Europa Universalis spin-off, but in the end, I can't escape the suspicion that Sengoku might just be a little too niche for its own sake. Read Full Review

GamerGaia If there’s only one thing you should ever know about Sengoku it’s that this game will not, in any way, take you by the hand and show you how to get the most out of it. In fact, this map-based strategy title from acclaimed RTS developer Paradox has one of the steepest learning curves ever seen in gaming. Let me hit you with a simile; Sengoku, at least from the beginning, is like a skate park half-pipe, only you’re not skating towards a gentle curve, but rather flinging yourself at the vertical wall on the other side. GAMElitist.com "Sengoku is definitely not for everyone. It’s a deep and rich experience, but only if you have the patience to wade through its murky systems. Perhaps if there were a tutorial, then I would feel better about recommending this game. But hey, if you’re the kind of person that doesn’t mind spending a few hours to learn the complexities of a mammoth-sized game, go ahead and try it. Chances are you’ll find something to love."
