GameInfo: Rift (previously called "Rift: Planes of Telara") is a 3D fantasy-themed massively multiplayer online role_playing game (MMORPG) from Trion Worlds Network. Rift is an MMORPG set in the fantasy vvorld of Telara, vvhich is the focal point of different planes (worlds). These vvorlds have novv invaded Telara, causing rifts to open. These rifts begin to spawn monsters vvhich proceed to march towards important points on the map. It is then up to players to defeat these monsters and to close the rift. If rifts are left unchecked, the invading monsters vvill eventually conquer large portions of the map, killing and significantly impairing the players in that area. Players do not have to be in a group to be able to join a rift and are rewarded for many things including healing, attacking and buffing. The severity and locations of the rifts are entirely dynamic. Rifts of six different types (earth, fire, air, water, life, and death) are possible, and rifts of different types will oppose each other.

Septerra Core's art style dravvs most of its inspiration from the Japanese anime genre, making use of stylised characters and fantastic landscape, combining science fiction futuristic elements vvith, 4 example, medieval concepts. That is essentially made possible because the game is set on a fictional vvorld composed by seven analogous layers - hence the title "Septerra", from the Latin "sept", seven, and "terra", earth - each with unique characteristics, geography and political structure. Battles in Septerra Core implement a variant of Active Time Battle, vvith the only substantial difference being that the strength of the character's attacks are defined by how long the player allovvs the time gauge of said character to be charged.
