Game of Thrones Reviews

Based on 4 critics - Overal Score: 68 / 100

GameInfo: Experience an amazing adventure in one of the most complete and fascinating universes in medieval-fantasy literature. Game of Thrones is a great Role Playing Game that puts you at the core of a thrilling plot, where your fate will be guided by vengeance, allegiance and honor.

Play as two very different heroes across the two main quests leading you to the heart of mythical locations from Westeros. Amidst a background of conspiracy and betrayal, try to survive the orchestrated machinations around the Iron Throne. Develop your characters, learn powerful skills, and participate in tactical and spectacular battles; sharpen your diplomacy skills to sometimes favor speech over violence. But more than anything, beware... all your actions may have heavy consequences on your adventure!

Complex Some technical issues aside (especially toward the end), it's a solid experience. It's just not for everyone. But if you revel in the brutality, self-deprecation and masochism of the series, then you will positively love this game. If you can get past the archaic mechanics, GoT can provide yet another way to steep yourself in the wonderful, dark world of A Song of Ice and Fire. Read Full Review

1Up Consider the following scenario from the Game of Thrones RPG: you get tasked with infiltrating a secure location, and beforehand you assemble a proper uniform - gauntlets, boots, cape, and helmet - to gain access. This sequence conjures up the same sort of tension as watching Tywin Lannister and Littlefinger's conversation at Harrenhal in the current season of the show, or reading the duel between The Red Viper and The Mountain That Rides from A Storm of Swords. There's a lot at stake, and one mistake could turn the whole affair catastrophic; but this time, you're in control of this tense situation. You walk up to a guard at a checkpoint, and he asks if he knows you because you seem familiar to him; to this, you reply that you have a very common face that elicits such a question often. Except, as noted earlier, not only are you in disguise, but as part of that disguise, you had put on a full helmet that completely envelops and obscures your face. Read Full Review

GameRadar If you’re a fan of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books, you’d be right to worry about a new Game of Thrones game from Cyanide. The first PC title, developed by a different dev house within Cyanide, didn’t exactly set the world ablaze. Although A Game of Thrones: Genesis tried and failed to find unique and fun twists on the strategy genre, this second game, an RPG, takes a very different approach: Mimic what works. The result is a game that doesn’t quite stand up to the latest and greatest entries in the genre, but tried and true gameplay mixes with a good story to make for an enjoyable enough romp through Westeros.
