Alien: Isolation PC Game Review and more

GameInfo: Alien: Isolation is a first-person survival horror game which captures the fear and tension evoked by Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic film. Players find themselves in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger as an unpredictable, ruthless Xenomorph is stalking and killing deep in the shadows. Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.

Review: Well the wait is over after many many months of waiting, actually since I saw the trailer briefly last year. Orders this for PC, and my brother got it for 360. First off I must say the 360 version holds it own with GREAT details, framerates, and overall gameplay (at 720p). Oddly enough the PC version does NOT look much better, just slightly higher details, and better sound quality. That's really it. Framerates even on Ultra are about 50 or so with my ole Nvidia GTX 650ti 2gb card, at full 1080p. Which was pretty shocking. So this is NOT a graphically demanding game. As the developers said they played "guess the console" when making it. I think the worst probably being for the PS3 port. Youtube does a decent job at comparing them, but you don't know until you actually play. The cut scenes look amazing (on all systems), better than the game, of course. I do like the intensity of the solitude (or isolation) that you feel as you walk around the ship. Which mostly consists of hiding, pulling switches, accessing computers, looking at your (map) a little to often) to find your next objective.

So the game is very old fashion, even the notifications look like they're from the 70's, and there is a slight graininess to the overall graphics. Which is interesting. So even though it's not quite the game I had hoped for, it still does an excellent job of creating a tense atmosphere, and the sound is very dynamic, which will make you jump several times. The androids IMO are scarier than the actual Alien itself. Mostly because I've been killed by them more so than the creature itself. Though it's pretty gruesome when it does get ahold of you. Which is pretty often. So it's a very solid game, I just wish they had taken a bit more time in the graphics department, with more intense anit-aliasing, better details, and MUCH less screen tearing, which is everywhere. I've heard on other versions as well, mainly PS4, I never noticed much on the 360 version, after watching gameplay for around half an hour or so. I may end up just playing it, starting a new game for myself on it.

I feel bad that developers for next gen consoles and PC's aren't really putting their best foot forward when it comes to "next gen", especially disappointing console ports like PS4, Xbox One i really know nothing about. So IMO I think if game companies spent less time on "remastering" old versions of games, and put 100% into the new ones, we'd rally have something. Considering they have some of the best "graphics" out there. This may sound like a rant about a HD picture but it's really about wanting this game to be at it's full potential. I'm disappointed (a bit) because it seems very half-A##ed to me. Lets just hope The Evil Within meets or exceeds my expectations. Which I doubt, but here's hoping.

So fun game, good scares, very mediocre in the looks department, and just an overall average game. Which most fans, and reviewers have already said before me. Thanks.
