InSomnia RPG

InSomnia, a dystopian dieselpunk RPG, from indie developer Studio MONO, has returned to Kickstarter to secure the funds required to complete the game.

“It was no easy decision to return to Kickstarter. After evaluating the progress made on the project, thanks to the funds from our previous Kickstarter campaign and the over £100,000 we’ve spent out of our own pockets, we’ve got to a point where we need additional funding. The money’s for one final push to take the game past the current Prologue Chapter we have released to the public.” said Anatoliy Guyduk, lead developer at Studio MONO.

“We switched from Ogre 3D to UE4, and are thrilled with the improvements in both the visuals and the performance of the game. The Prologue Chapter, which is up to four hours long – depending on how much you explore and do, will show you how passionate we all are for InSomnia. We hope that you’ll support us in our dieselpunk inspired journey, one last time!”

InSomnia is dystopian vision, set in a murky, retro-futuristic style. The game takes place on a colossal, semi-deserted interplanetary space station. Having left their dying planet behind, this space metropolis, along with its inhabitants, has been moving towards the distant, ghost-like Evacuation Point for the past 400 years, where the descendants of the once great people hope to start over the history of mankind.

Game Features
•Multi-layered role playing game
•Dark retro-futuristic setting
•Hardcore gameplay
•Non-linear story
•Colossal space metropolis to explore
•Realistic combat system
•Generated quests and events
•Atmospheric ambient soundtrack

Retro Action-Platformer ‘Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island’ to Jump on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2016

Grip Digital, the team behind the sci-fi exploration game The Solus Project, and developer Right Nice Games, have unveiled today ‘Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island’, a single-player action-platformer game. Headed to the PlayStation 4 system and Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program, and PC later in 2016, Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island embraces a colorful, vibrant world of 3D platforming seemingly forgotten in today’s cluttered world of MOBAs and Survival games.

Following the best traditions of the third-person platformer/action genre, Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island sets two unlikely heroes on an adventure to prevent the villainous CRT from

conquering their home and turning it into a wasteland. Skylar was designed by CRT and turned into his most potent weapon – wielding a powerful mechanical arm augmentation — but now, she must become a heroine-against-her-will to defy her makers and forge a new destiny. And Plux is the eloquent sidekick that every good action platformer needs to have.

Together, they will explore lush beaches, burning volcanoes, freezing mountains and merciless desert, fight an army of CRT’s henchmen, collect powerful upgrades like the Magnetic Glove, or Jetpack and challenging CRT’s plans – and their destinies – before it is too late.

“Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island is a passionate homage to the 3D platformers of our youth. Go on an action packed adventure, collecting gadgets helping you explore a beautiful paradise and save it from evil”, says Eric Valentine, Level Designer and Narrative Director, Right Nice Games.

“Anyone who enjoys the classic 3D platformers like Crash Bandicoot or the Jak and Daxter series will instantly fall in love with Skylar & Plux. There’s a lot of personality and humor, colorful characters and hours of great gameplay for the fans of the genre, as well as newcomers to the 3D platformer games,” added Jakub Mikyska, CEO of GRIP Digital.

Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC Steam later in 2016.

Blood Alloy: Reborn – Screenshots

INSPIRED BY Metroid and Dark Souls, Blood Alloy: Reborn is the product of a failed Kickstarter campaign that inspired the developer, Suppressive Fire, to go back to the drawing board. The current iteration has been boiled down to its purest form with reworked art and design, and with a much smaller scale game in the works compared to original concept the team is promising a finished product by the time 2016 comes to a close.

A Quiver of Crows PC Preview

Artful Chaos

Twin stick shooters are not a common sight into today’s markets. For those who don’t know, the term  denotes to a specific type of shoot ‘em up, commonly known as shmups, in which one joystick (or controller) is dedicated to movement with the second being used for aiming. While this could technically refer to all FPS’ and most third-person shooters, the name is most often applied to 2D games, and as such tends to be more of an indie genre than anything else.

Of course this is not a bad thing, as indie is often where the most experimentation takes place, and A Quiver of Crows does not appear short on ideas, at least relative to what is ultimately a very simple  genre. Set in a “grim world cursed by demons and ghouls”, this highly stylised game will let players take control of a crow, either by themselves or in co-op, to battle through various levels themed by the time of day.

Any twin stick shooter will have plenty of action on hand, and A Quiver of Crows does not look set  to disappoint here, with a variety of somewhat odd attacks, including sine wave and plasma weapons, that will vary in effect. One of game’s central mechanics will be the use of physics, including ragdoll  physics for dead enemies, which can impede not only your ability to navigate the environments but aiming as well. This will feed into what the developers have stated will be a game that is meant to be challenging, and gameplay footage is certainly looking to back this promise up.
