Indie game publisher Versus Evil and Brazilian game studio BitCake, today announced that their fast paced multiplayer shooter Holodrive, currently in Early Access, is officially launching today on steam as a free to play game.
To celebrate the move to free to play, the BitCake team is also launching their new game mode, Cocoball, which combines basketball and pinball gameplay - not with a ball, but a rather unlikely object… a chicken! A new trailer showing off the new game mode was also released https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKaBaqIuZVA . Holodrive matches up to 8 players online as they battle it out across 4 different game modes to take the top spot on the leaderboards.
“We are really pleased to be helping the BitCake team launch Holodrive into the free to play world,” commented Steve Escalante, General Manager of Versus Evil. “It’s an incredibly fun, fast paced multiplayer game with tons of character customizations and weapon unlocks. We are building a robust content release schedule while also working to port the game to consoles. For those looking for a fast paced, skillful shooter, Holodrive will be sure to please!”
In Holodrive, players customize their character with a cool outfit, equip their weapon of choice plus a jet pack and then jump into battle in one of the many arenas. Fast gameplay is accentuated with the use of ramps and strategically placed power ups that can turn the tide of battle with an element of surprise at any time. Players can carry up to 7 weapons at the same time and they can expand their weapon and outfit collection by opening Holopacks that grant random items, some of which are super rare. They can also 'dematerialize' duplicate items and weapons and craft them into other customizations they don't already have. Each player can also show off their own individual style with deep character customization clothing items.
