GameInfo: Shuggy has just inherited a castle full of goblins, ghouls, zombies, and robots. Help him clear out over 100 rooms to make his new home liveable again! Every room in the castle is different, letting Shuggy fly, float, swing, spin, change size, time travel and more as he explores the Dungeon, Boiler Room, Clocktower, Gallery, and Graveyard.

New Gamer Nation Shuggy just inherited a castle. Great news, yeah? Obviously you haven’t played enough video games, because everyone knows that no self respecting video game character inherits a castle that isn’t haunted, and Shuggy’s pad is no exception. Luckily for us, this means we get a fun twitch platformer with a ton of variety and creativity to the mechanics. After somewhat disappointing sales on XBLA, Adventures of Shuggy has made the jump to PC, in both Steam and DRM-Free Humble Store flavours. It’s a pity this game hasn’t received more attention so far, because it really is a creative take on the platforming genre. Consisting of over a hundred short levels, each with unique mechanics and layouts, there’s a lot to like about the game. StickSkills To excel as an independently developed puzzle platform game isn’t exactly a simple task these days. Though high quality, visually appealing downloadable titles were once rare to see, 2D experiences that combine both deep riddle solving and tight controls now make their way to PSN, XBLA and Steam quite regularly. It takes a unique hook to sit high above the crowd and be noticed, and while Smudged Cat Games’ The Adventures of Shuggy succeeds in almost every attempted department, no single element within the formula is distinctive enough to make it a true hit. There are hours of fun to be had with Shuggy, but the adventure never ventures far enough beyond the realm of comfort to become memorable. Read Full Review

GAMINGtruth Overall, The Adventures of Shuggy is well-intentioned. The cartoony art style is charming, and many puzzles are well designed. But several mechanics are borrowed from games that simply do it better. I see no reason to choose this completely middle-of-the-road experience over one of those other fantastic choices.
